I first purchased my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X on May 12 of 2014 with 14 miles on it. Coming from a 2 door Honda Prelude, I wanted a 4 door for family road trips, weekend drives, and still being able to race. The purpose was clear from the start, weekend warrior with the family with a side of racing.
Since it was bone stock, All Wheel Drive with gravel, tarmac and snow mode, I put it to use and I had a great time learning the car and it's potential. I was amazed with how well the Evo handled in the dirt and snow. This experience marked the beginning of a new journey of modifying my Evo - new parts started coming in, I started meeting fellow Evo owners, and I started racing the Evo.
I started attending Race Legal, a 1/8 drag racing event on a Friday night once/twice a month. I had a great time launching the car and was able get a PB of 8.465 stock and then finally collected all my parts to be full bolts on, E85 and ran a new PB of 7.963. Attending Race Legal has opened new opportunities for me. It's a great platform to begin with and branch off to Barona Drag where I attended 3 times and realized that I am not fully committed to modify my car for drag racing.
track days
After Drag Racing for 2 years, I finally tried going to the track and it's completely another world of racing. I attended Streets of Willows CW for my first track day and learned so much. I ended the day with 1:34:881 and fell in love knowing my Evo has more in it, I just needed seat time. I went again for my second time but had fuel cut issues on my 3rd session and decided to call it a day because I still have to drive almost 4 hours to get home. However, I was able to get a new PB of 1:31:044.
I wanted to have more seat time and learn the car so I attended another track day at Chuckwalla. I learned so much after the event and put me in a position where I have to make a full commitment to either Drag racing or Circuit Racing.
